Background
About Del Willier
I have worked in various industrial settings, starting out in sawmills, earning my red seal ticket in millwrighting with a great deal of focus on rotating equipment. After the mill I was working for closed, I went out on my own with two business partners providing the sawmill industry with maintenance on their compressed air systems. A few years later I was asked by the company I had earned my red seal ticket with to come back and assume the duties of a maintenance supervisor which I accepted, thus closing my company. This seen me taking on the responsibility of looking after the weekend maintenance crews in both the sawmill and planer mills, but the unfortunate downturn of the sawmill industry brought me into the pellet mill industry where I worked as a shift millwright for two years, while contracting to a independent contractor on my days off. The opportunity presented itself to get into the construction industry building the Mt Milligan mine, where I worked primarily in the float cell and pebble crusher parts of the project, assembling components, installing sole plates, pumps and float cells to correct elevations. In the last 1/4 of the project I was asked to run the night shift crew which seen me once again taking the responsibility for the coordination and execution of daily/weekly job tasks. Atlas Copco then contacted me to acquire my services in the oil and gas industry where I worked all over the Ft McMurray area servicing and maintaining the utility air equipment for various industrial customers, but then due to a shift in one of the maintenance budgets, the main contract did not get renewed for the following year. I found myself back in PG looking for opportunity and while contracting to Cobalt/Stone Mountain Projects, I was offered an opportunity to fill the full time position as a Superintendent with the company.
