About Della Brown

I have worked within the NHS for 6 years in a mixture of different departments, Medical Laboratory, Operating room, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Labour and Delivery. During the first year of covid-19 I worked extra shifts within ICU. We were one of the hardest hit hospitals in the UK. Working in the different areas has given me the skills such as, Knowledge of operating equipment in the operating theatre such as Karl Storz Endoscopy camera system, Manual Handling, Infection prevention and control, Safeguarding adults, Safeguarding children, Resuscitation, Major incident/ major awareness training, Health Records, case notes, Data protection and confidentiality, Glucose/ketone meter use, Gravity bolus feeding, NG feeding through pump, preparing children and adults for the operating room, physiological measurements. One of the highlights of my career so far is that I volunteered, along with a large number of other staff, to participate in the oxford study covid-19 vaccine trial as we were being exposed to Covid-19 every day so we were some of the best subjects that the research could be carried out on. I was part of this trial for a year before the vaccine was authorized for use in the UK. I felt proud of myself to be a part of something so big that would make a difference to so many people.
