About Denis Ofarrell

I am a solicitor in the Tax practice of Matheson LLP which advises multinational corporations doing business in and from Ireland on all aspects of Irish corporate taxation.Currently, I also serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Hibernian Law Journal, being my third year on the Editorial Board. The Hibernian Law Journal was established in and is co-ordinated by trainee and newly qualified solicitors under the auspices of the Law Society of Ireland. The Journal seeks to promote the integration between the study and the practice of law. This is achieved through the annual publication of the Journal, featuring writings that address prevalent issues facing the practicing and academic communities, as well as the hosting of the Annual Lecture series which provides an established forum for discussion of contemporary legal matters.During my traineeship at Matheson I completed rotations in the firm's Financial Institutions Group, Corporate M&A Group, and Asset Management and Investment Funds Department. Notable transactions include Horizon Therapeutics plc's $27.8 billion sale to Amgen Inc. and LCI, RIVE and Turning Rock-Partners' €115 million portfolio purchase of helicopters from Lobo Leasing. I graduated top of my class with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Civil Law degree from University College Cork.
