About Denis Serre

After a PhD and a postdoc in instrumentation for astrophysics, I am since 2010 in Cannes, France, being employed by Thales Alenia Space (TAS), a world-class company in communication and observation satellites. There, I have spent the majority of those years in the future projects department of the observation & science business line, in the early years in a role of performances responsible and then in the roles of payload design authority & study manager. In phases 0/A/B1, this latest roles focus on being responsible for the definition of a solution architecture complying to the Customer technical requirements, and encompass establishing the development & industrialization baseline, managing the team & the adequate work progress, being responsible w.r.t. TAS management of the costs spending, and being the main Customer interface. I have also been the design authority of the ESA Copernicus CO2M payload for the first 2 years of the B2CD phase, after having lead the A/B1 phase technically and contractually. The application domains of the optical payloads I have worked on include from UV to thermal IR wavelengths, from sub-nm to µm band spectral resolution, from km to metric resolution, observing Earth or space, and being based in LEO, GEO or farther. I also participated or lead several bid proposals, including some B2CD.
