About Denise Bell

I started my career at Vanguard in 2021 as an agile/scrum specialist where I was given the opportunity to help build, grow, and develop others on agile methodologies and best practices. A few months into my new role, I became a manager of a software development team where I now have the responsibility of leading crew as well as delivering and supporting financial services that give our clients the best chance at investment success. As a leader, I am passionate about growing and developing the leaders of tomorrow by laying a foundation for success whether it is through metrics, processes, relationships, or tools. Much of what I do hinges on the fact that I enjoy leading and supporting others in their own personal development journeys while also delivering quality and value in the products and services I support. Prior to joining Vanguard, I spent a good portion of my career in specialized roles that allowed me to develop my learning around ITIL. I obtained various certifications in ITIL, ranging from intermediate certifications in service design, to service operations, and eventually pursued my ITIL 4 Managing Professional certificate. I used this knowledge to further grow and develop my career at McKesson to drive process improvement changes to help IT departments improve critical processes such as major incident/incident management, change management, and problem management to name a few key processes. In addition, I led strategic efforts to roll out an ITSM tool to help support McKesson's ITIL process improvement journey. After several years of leading and driving improvements in my organization, I decided to further advance my knowledge in agile from a business perspective. I decided to take a role as a senior product manager in the security division where I led a product team in their adoption and implementation of an IAM system. I frequently worked with leaders and key stakeholders to understand their needs and worked with product teams to deliver. In my early career, I decided to take a technical pathway and became a Unix/Linux engineer where I had the opportunity to build, deploy, and troubleshoot servers in HP's data centers. It was this part of my career where I learned the different aspects of IT and found that much of what I learned to be beneficial throughout the rest of my career and served as a foundation for me in learning new technologies and helped me learn the skills necessary to be successful in the rapidly changing world of IT!
