I define myself by what am and how I treat others and not by the job I do. My priority in life is to be good to others, help them when I can and be kind to myself. Advocacy: Being a transgender woman I feel very strongly that the best way to help my brothers and sisters is through education. Using stories from my life, I help individuals and organizations understand what it is to live with Gender Dysphoria and what it means to be transgender.". it is nearly impossible to hate anyone whose story you know."(The New Yorker Tweet 11 Mar 2015). I also want to help those who have not come out and help them to have an easier time if/when they decide to transition through educating those around them. Your questions will allow me to walk in yours.” ― Denise Bowker Professional: My current professional role is to maintain the middleware environment for the Northern Trust public web sites. This includes managing the CMS software for website presentation (application server) and the content contribution software used by our business area to maintain the information on site. I am responsible for the architecture of the web sites, oversee user training and documentation and construction of the templates used to build the sites from the front end through to the back end. Personal: I am the proud owner of a 10m sailboat which I hope to move onto in 2023, retire, and sail to warmer salty waters. Public Speaking I have spoken about what it means to be transgender at a number of local companies and the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. I have also traveled to London to help people to understand what it is to be transgender.
