About Denise Crews

With over 25 years of nonprofit experience, I am the Director of Income and Asset Building Services at Commonwealth Catholic Charities a leading organization that provides compassionate and holistic services to individuals and families in need. In this role, I oversee and manage various programs and services that aim to improve the economic well-being and housing stability of low-income and vulnerable populations. My core competencies include affordable housing development, counseling, and financing, as well as grant writing, administration, and compliance. I hold a Master of Arts in Non Profit/Public/Organizational Management from the University of Lynchburg and I recently received another Master of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. I am also a certified housing counselor by the Virginia Association of Housing Counselors and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. I am passionate about creating and expanding opportunities for homeownership, financial literacy, and community development. I have a proven track record of securing and administering local, state, and federal grants, as well as establishing and maintaining partnerships with other agencies and organizations.
