About Denise Devlin-Li

I have proven versatility and experience in all levels of post-secondary education in both Nova Scotia and Ontario. I have recently managed programs in the health care sector along with the skilled trades and engineering technology sectors. I have a proven track record of success and innovation, and enjoy challenges and projects. As a Chair I know there are always unexpected events that arise and which could negatively impact the delivery of programs to students. But I have the proven ability to persevere, resolve the issues and the ability to just figure things out and get them done. Even the recent Covid-19 event has not stopped me from continuing to deliver apprenticeship training. We pivoted to hybrid delivery of courses to continue to support the education of our apprentices. We safely offered shop classes on campus in the summer and fall. I also stepped in to manage programs in the health and sciences areas when needed. I have a comprehensive knowledge of the apprenticeship system in Ontario. I believe skilled trades are an excellent career choice for many people, including women. Industry is facing a critical shortage of skilled workers, now more than ever. Particularly in the construction and housing sectors. Now that I am involved with health care I know how important staffing is to recovery of the province from Covid-19. One of my goals is to serve on a non-profit board. I know the college sector well, along with industry connections and outreach. Areas of expertise include: • curriculum and program development • teaching technical, science and communication courses • marketing • community development • industry and government relations • identification of current and future trends in industry • project management and many more. I have a unique ability to manage inter-disciplinary projects and meet enrollment and revenue targets without losing sight of the fact that the purpose of education is for students and to help them achieve their goals. I thrive in high energy diverse environments where providing exceptional services to both internal and external stakeholders is achieved through collaboration and teamwork.
