Background
About Denise Egan Stack
Shortly after finishing her graduate school training at McLean Hospital, Ms. Stack became involved in the development and launching of the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital, the first residential treatment program for OCD in the United States. On staff for ten years, Ms. Stack developed and managed both counseling and research programs at the OCDI. As a result of this unique experience, Ms. Stack has become a sought after consultant in both program development and clinical consultation. She co-founded and help launch the New England ACT Institute, Cape & Islands Cognitive Behavioral Institute and the OCD Center at ServiceNet and provided clinical consultation to the McLean Hospital OCDI Child & Adolescent Residential Program, Menninger Hospital's OCD Residential Program, and Rogers Memorial Hospital's OCD Residential Program during development. Ms. Stack has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on OCD and related disorders and has presented nationally and internationally on such topics. Additionally, for over fifteen years, Ms. Stack has been involved in the International OCD Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to increasing awareness of the disorder as well as providing education, training and research opportunities. Ms. Stack initially became involved in the Foundation as the President of the Massachusetts affiliate, and has served on the Board in various capacities, including President, for over ten years. In addition, she is the mental health consultant to the Cape Cod Hoarding Task Force. In practice providing home-based therapy for over twenty years, Ms. Stack has treated hundreds of individuals using Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She believes that home based behavior therapy is an effective way to treat people whose symptoms occur mostly in their home, who have not benefited from traditional outpatient level of care, and/or who require in vivo support to complete exposure and response prevention tasks.
