About Denise Usuka

My passion is inspiring students to find their unlocked potential. If a child is motivated to build the courage to open themselves up by stepping out of their comfort zone, amazing new discoveries and confidence can be realized. The realization that one can do anything they want by taking a risk, making mistakes and uncovering misconceptions along the way is purposeful, exhilarating and rewarding all at the same time. I believe in finding a way to insure community and equity in all of my students’ learning journeys. My classroom has an open door that invites anyone inside. Besides the academic expectations, students learn to appreciate and respect each other by recognizing we all have strengths and weaknesses. Students who support each other’s differences generate bigger and more meaningful experiences which build trust and enthusiasm. Through collaboration, open-mindedness and wanting to take ownership of their work, student driven agency and meaningful learning can happen.
