About Denise Waligora

Over more than 20 years in mental health, I’ve had the privilege to gain experience as a national training leader, team manager, curriculum developer, master trainer, senior therapist and media subject matter expert. Since 2011, I’ve held roles with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, first as a master trainer leading facilitator training for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), before elevating to a training and delivery specialist, where I serve as the primary training resource and supportive coach to 1,700 MHFA facilitators, including Master and Contract Trainers. Over the years, I’ve run the gamut of roles in mental health care, from self-employed training consultant, to intensive case manager for justice-involved individuals, to community support worker, to crisis worker, to senior therapist, to instructor therapist, to program director, in both Canada and the United States. Through these experiences, my well-rounded skill set in mental health has provided me many opportunities to speak as a passionate subject matter expert at several conferences and in mainstream media, podcasts and blogs.
