About Denise Warshany

Education is the most important work we leave behind. For 20 years, I’ve been honored to help shape the minds of our future leaders, both as an educator and an education administrator. As Assistant Dean of Academics and High School Operations at Cab Calloway School of the Arts (CCSA), I lead nearly students and 50 educators in an environment where the arts and academics unite to amplify student achievement. Prior to my tenure at CCSA, I served as Head of School at Odyssey Charter School (OCS) wearing many hats: overseeing the academic program for over 1,900 students, supervising the faculty, controlling the budget, establishing sound governance, leading community outreach and marketing programs. You have to love having a different day, every day. And I do.Throughout my career, I have achieved quantifiable results in advancing student achievement and staff development. My philosophy as an instructional leader is that people have the skills and answers within themselves: my job is to coach it out of them. Curiosity drives me. I was always drawn to teaching and never stopped learning. My doctoral research focused on the academic and cognitive benefits gained from learning a foreign language at an early age. As a Dance major graduate of a performing arts high school in New Jersey, I am an avid supporter of the arts in education. and now find myself incredibly fortunate to serve as Assistant Dean of Academics to the next generation of artists and leaders.CCSA is the proud recipient of the 2022 National Blue Ribbon as an Exemplary High Performing school. My Odyssey Charter School team worked diligently on the numerous initiatives necessary to earn the 2020 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon, an award recognizing schools for exceptional achievement in educating for sustainability and improving the environmental footprint of the school grounds, facility and curriculum.As a leader, I strive to be transparent and grounded. Creating and building strong relationships is an essential component of my role. I believe in a strong work ethic, a curiosity about the world, a love of innovation, and the importance of creating a work environment that is supportive and, yes, fun. As a leader in the field of education, I am fortunate to have fertile soil to accomplish so much. Through modeling of hard work, passion, and lifelong learning, my goal is to embolden students, educators, and leaders to realize their greatest personal and professional potential.
