About Deniz Bengi
Currently exploring how early-life trauma shapes risk for complex posttraumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) and interacts with biomarkers of hormonal sensitivity in adulthood. Through the ECHOS study, my work examines how trauma and emotion regulation intersect with biological pathways, with the goal of improving mental health care for women+ experiencing premenstrual and perimenopausal symptoms. Before beginning my doctorate, I earned an MSc in Affective Disorders at King’s College London with distinction (equivalent to a 4.0 GPA). Along the way, I’ve gained experience designing and coordinating observational studies, building interdisciplinary collaborations, and working with complex clinical and biological data. At the heart of my work is a commitment to making research meaningful: bridging neuroscience, psychiatry, and highlighting the experiences of women+ to help shape more precise and compassionate treatments for mood disorders and women+’s mental health.
