About Dennis A. Moore
I have a love of chemistry and broad experiences in drug research and process development, from bench to plant scale. While my thesis work was in organometallic chemistry, I've spent much of my career developing expertise in polyazamacrocycles. This novel work has ranged from the simple chelate complexes such as gallium-NOTA and other triazacyclononane-based ligands, to bifunctional chelates such as lysine-derived DOTA and its conjugation to vitamin B12. More recently, I've worked in the synthesis of potent compounds including prodrugs of cisplatin, pemetrexed, mitoxantrone and doxorubicin. I have also become experienced in formulation work such as the preparation of mitoxantrone-loaded, 45nm liposomes and timed-release depot formulations of a prodrug of bupivacaine. Several of the projects I've participated in the development and scale-up of processes for manufacturing, including gadoversetamide (Optimark), mozobil (Plerixafor) and gadofoveset (Ablavar). This included reactions from grams to kilograms, with myself operating 20L glass up to 50 gallon glass lined reactors. I've also had first-hand experience in the cGMP manufacturing of of codeine from morphine. This body of work has yielded 20 publications and 33 patents or applications.
