The Safety Manager shall: • Develop, define, integrate, and monitor the Safety Management System. • Provide Leadership and Direction in Risk Management, Loss Control, and Regulatory Compliance to Government and Maritime Safety programs • Evaluate and audit the safety program. • Conduct and develop safety training, safety management and accident prevention. • Evaluate the maintenance training to ensure fundamental safety principles are integrated into the syllabus. • Investigate and report on incidents and accidents. Make recommendations to preclude a recurrence. • Conduct hazardous material training as it pertains to this certificate. Direct hazardous material identification and disposal. • Provide assistance during new employee initial safety training and during recurring training. • Develop and maintain the Maritime Emergency Procedures Plan, provide guidance to determine location, use, adequacy, and serviceability of firefighting equipment and other safety equipment.
