About Dennis MacPherson

Dennis is a Mechanical Engineer with 26 years of experience in mechanical engineering functions dealing with maintenance, operations, design, construction and commissioning. Since 2006, Dennis has been principal engineer of his own consulting company specializing in providing services from concept, through front-end engineering, detailed engineering, construction and commissioning/start-up. Throughout his career, Dennis has been heavily involved in engineering functions that focused on mechanical and process engineering aspects of boiler and associated equipment turnaround. His technical responsibilities have included pressure boundary troubleshooting and repair, boiler reliability programs, failure investigations, site engineering and equipment installation and commissioning. He has been the Lead Engineer and Mechanical Engineer in support of equipment turnarounds that included boilers, precipitators, turbines, heat exchangers, piping, valving, pumps, compressors, air dryers, and tanks. As a lead shutdown engineer for a large oilsands utility, Dennis has developed detailed and organized systems for execution and permanent record of engineering packages and technical reporting. He has managed the technical aspects of numerous boiler and other utility equipment shutdowns where he was responsible for all technical (multi-discipline), quality assurance/quality control, schedule and personnel issues. He has also lead all technical aspects for the preparation and planning for upcoming equipment shutdowns. Dennis also holds a valid Third Class Engineer’s Certificate of Competency in the province of Alberta.
