About Dennis Patch

Hi My first trade was a carpenter but with the downturn in the industry at the time I was forced to diversify into other fields. I tried my hand at farming and spent about six years at various farms until i decided to join the Ambulance service in Kingaroy. Many years of training and personal develop as a Paramedic lasted 17 years. What do you do after Paramedics? I diversified again and studied Safety. This new role took me to Mount Isa to a heavy engineering workshop where a sheet of metal was several tonne in weight and industrial machinery was built from scratch and installed on the mine site. Shutdowns were also a big part of my new role with risk assessments being continually written and updated as the work evolved. Each task was audited to ensure that risk assessments were followed. During my time in the Isa area I travelled to many sites from Jamberoo in the tertiary to Phosphate hill in the south spreading the safety culture. With the downturn of the Hard rock industry meant a new pathway and another challenge. the move to Mackay seen a new direction with training being the main focus. My first posting was with IML giving me a hunger to get out into the coal fields to learn more about coal mining and associated activities. I spent just over twelve months with John Holland in the HST department before turning back to my love of training. I had previously spent a little time working with HTD and now training with HTD again spreading the safety message across the coal fields This passion to spread the Safety word has lead to my current position with Protector Alsafe.
