About Dennis Perkinson

Mathematics and Physics Department Head, came to Rosemont College after forty years in the computer and telecommunications industries. Dennis holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics, with minors in Computer Science, from the University of Kentucky. During his career in industry, he held various positions in management of software development and marketing organizations, including Vice-President, Operations of the former Contel Data Services Corporation. Professor Perkinson holds two patents for software associated with the SS7 signaling network. Since coming to Rosemont as head of the Mathematics Department in 2013, Professor Perkinson has instituted a Minor in Mathematics and implemented Rosemont’s two-semester Physics course. In conjunction with Dr. Jennifer Jackson of Rosemont’s Religious Studies Department, he has developed a new course, Theology and Science, that is being offered for the first time in the Fall 2016 semester. He is a strong proponent of active learning and is constantly seeking new ways to utilize hands-on technology to improve his students’ learning experiences. Professor Perkinson’s interests outside of academia and commerce include writing, fly fishing, and hobby electronics. Having seen the face of War as a U.S. soldier in Vietnam, Professor Perkinson is an active opponent of war, in general, and Unjust Wars, in particular. He is currently writing a book on Just War Theory entitled, A Warrior’s Search for Redemption.
