About Denton Lee

After two decades in the workforce, here's what I know- I'm a loyal employee. In 20 years, I've gotten paychecks from only 3 places. I'm on year 10 with my current employer.(And FYI, Millennials job hop every 2.75 years.)- My favorite part of both banking and teaching is the relationships I built. I'm good at the business of relating to people, and that skill doesn't care what job I'm performing- I've tried entrepreneurship twice with no success, but I'm still glad I tried- I became a teacher because I wanted to do something important with my life. And I have. I'm quite simply ready for a new challenge now- I have a long 20 year career ahead of me. I'm changing careers at a time when my skills and talents are screaming to be fully utilized and my work ethic is yearning to be fully rewarded- My absolute best talent is my ability to break down anything - whether it's math or public policy or even something I've just learned - and deliver it on my audience's level, whether it's a special ed student or a superior. It's somewhere between great teaching, innate empathy, and extreme attention to detail- My next three best skills that I'm dying to fully use are relationship-building, brainstorming / problem-solving / thinking WAY outside the box, and my ability to adapt to any situation, no matter how odd, stressful, or uncomfortable- The coolest thing I've ever done was become the only person in NC to get on the ballot as an Unaffiliated candidate for the General Assembly in 2020. Over 50 people tried to get the signatures necessary, and I'm the only one who succeeded. I got about 3,800 signatures. The next closest person got about 1,200- I'm ready for a big, bold challenge; a challenge where I can take risks, be creative, work harder than I've ever needed to work, and build loyal, trusting, authentic relationships- Not only will my next employer never regret hiring me, they'll want me to stay as long as I can.
