About Denys Rivas

I am a Senior Manager with over 25 years of demonstrated experience in Emergency Response, Incident Management, Search and Rescue Coordination, Environmental Response, and Employee Training. Benjamin Franklin said “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” As I transition from the United States Coast Guard back to civilian life in Houston, Texas, I am confident that my vast experiences have prepared me to continue to thrive in the dynamic realm of emergency management. I have been selected to represent the United States as a senior leader on the international stage utilizing my analytical skills and technical expertise to strengthen multi-lateral international agreements between the US and 27 foreign countries, led adaptive force package teams of 20-800 deployable specialized forces personnel in response to maritime National Special Security Events ranging from security for the President of the United States to Border Protection and Narcotics Interdiction on the Southwest and Eastern Caribbean Maritime borders, and directed responses to type I-IV incidents including search & rescue, law enforcement, pollution & hazardous materials, and events of national significance. The Coast Guard has afforded me the opportunity to work alongside some inspirational leaders that I am proud to consider mentors. It is because of that mentorship and my passion for success that I bring an excellent reputation for resolving complex problems, methodically approaching multi-faceted projects, and driving overall operational improvements. I am focused on giving communities peace of mind with well-planned emergency and crisis response systems and an all hazards approach to mitigation.
