About Deon Johnston

I started life in the agricultural and farming sector before travelling and working extensively overseas. Returning to NZ in 1997 I moved into the IT world and progressed into a business analysis/software development career before being made redundant in 2014 from the Corporate world. My wife Juliet & I purchased an import business in 2012, opened a retail store in 2014, a Freight & Logistics business came along next to assist in our importation from UK Europe & USA. 2016 I was looking for my next challenge and didn’t necessarily want to buy or set up another full-time business as I was starting to be time-poor already. I believe people,(or at least it applies to me) find themselves with several businesses because none of them truly deliver the full enjoyment that we are seeking. I thought, how can I get the excitement of improving processes but not with all the other pressures of owning a full-time 4th business so I moved into Consulting and in late 2017 I joined Prime Strategies. I really enjoyed being able to help people see there are other ways to do things, in some cases helping people enjoy their businesses again and obtain some of that freedom, time and money that they started out chasing when they went into business on their own. 2021 / 2022 I have now moved on to the next chapter and re-trained as a Financial Adviser with the Vega Mortgages team.
