Professional career in the technical aspects of Cardio-respiratory surgery and medicine. Developed a number of devices and techniques for Cardiopulmonary Bypass. Founder member of the UK School of Perfusion and the European Board; instrumental in establishing the UK Perfusion Society and professional status.Member of the first UK Heart Transplant Unit; responsible for transplant logistics, organ preservation and various research activities. 23 years at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, senior medical scientist in the Heart Transplant Unit and BHF Fellow for the last 3 years at Papworth. First European consultant for an Artificial Heart technology company and went on to represent a number of companies, providing teaching, technical support and research as one of two partners in Circulation Technology. Assistant editor of the first international journal of Perfusion.Part-time course instructor for the Engineering Dept. of Cambridge University and was the recipient of 4 major research grants. Published over 60 articles in peer reviewed journals and contributed 10 book chapters to educational textbooks. PhD - Organ Preservation for Heart Transplantation Wish to continue to be involved in advanced Life Support technologies, Cardiovascular Research, Transplantation or medical writing, on a part-time consultancy basis.
