I’m Derek Archibald, Former Deputy Chief of Taykwa Tagamou Nation — a proud father, community builder, and advocate for Indigenous-led economic growth. My work focuses on creating real ownership and opportunity for First Nations in sectors that shape the future — energy, infrastructure, and mining. I’ve helped secure a $20 million investment in Canada Nickel Company and co-led more than $3.8 billion in project negotiations, ensuring our Nation’s voice and values are part of every decision. I’ve been involved in: • Clean energy and transmission line development with Hydro One and regional partners • Nation-owned housing and construction projects that create jobs and reduce poverty • Mining and resource investments that balance opportunity with environmental respect • Policy design and consultation frameworks adopted across Ontario during and after COVID-19 I believe First Nations should be owners, not observers — building the kind of economic sovereignty that lasts beyond one generation.
