About Derek Auguste
I'm Derek Auguste, a Miami native and Army veteran who is passionate about supporting veterans and military families. My service took me from Germany with the 1st Armored Division to Special Operations Command South in Homestead, FL, including deployments to Iraq and Haiti. Since leaving the Army in 2015, I've dedicated myself to helping veterans find purpose and community. I led Miami's 1st Service Platoon with The Mission Continues and worked with the Warrior-Scholar Project to assist transitioning service members. I hold a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Miami and led the UM Student Veterans Organization. Currently, I serve as the Program Director for the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs at Florida International University, where I am pursuing a Master's in higher education administration. Outside of work, I cherish time with my family and enjoy giving back to the community that has given me so much.
