About Derek Ayscue

I have been a part of the banking industry since 2002. My skill set and passion resides in the back office setting. I love taking on projects and finding ways to improve efficiency around that. The role I am currently in is very satisfying in the aspect that I can be asked a question about data, and then with my skill set I am able to query data to analyze and provide solutions. Examples of some of my recent achievements include- Created a VISA CAMS performance tracking report. I am able to analyze all of our debit cards that were involved in breaches. In this analysis I am able to determine activity, velocity, true losses on breach, and make better cost effective decisions on when to block and reissue that group of cards. This is saving Coastal a significant amount of money- Used SQL querying to identify CPP (Common Points of Purchase) among the debit cards that were experiencing fraud- Created a project that allowed collaboration with Reporting and Analytics and Card Services departments. In this collaboration I was able to create a change event on our core system that made tweaks to our data for better data integrity- Created query to analyze suspicious losses to the company on debit cards that we could not explain. In this process I was able to identify internal fraud by identifying patterns of a specific employee. This employee was terminated and what could have been very significant losses became minimal- Using the same above queries slightly modified I was able to identify more data on another internal employee who was abusing their privileges and accessing other employee accounts- Completely revamped the way Coastal reviews our mobile deposits. These are a very few of my recent accomplishments. I provide very valuable data to upper management for high level decision making purposes.
