About Derek Baker

As a Business Development and Marketing Specialist at Sidley, I am responsible for supporting our Healthcare and Food, Drug and Medical Device groups in client acquisition/growth and marketing. At Family Office Exchange (FOX), I was responsible for the development and execution of the company's partnership portfolio. My goal was to connect sponsors to FOX's unique community of ultra-high-net-worth families, providing partners with an engaged audience and providing families with tailored resources. Before becoming Partnership Manager, I was responsible for FOX's communications, reputation management, and marketing initiatives as Marketing and Communications Manager. I led external and internal communications initiatives, including email campaigns, social media, press relations, and digital content. I began my career in Chicago at Kivvit, learning the essentials of public affairs and communications with brands such as the United States Olympics Council, Google, and AON. I developed intensive research skills, an understanding of the media landscape's nuance across industries, and the complexity of global brands. From there, I spent time at L.C. Williams & Associates, gaining expertise in pitching, advertising, and social media with consumer brands such as Boise Paper, First Alert, and Trex. At Heron Agency, I served on a two-person team serving up to 13 lifestyle clients simultaneously to deliver top-quality service in social media, marketing, public relations, and advertising. As a result, I gained a keen understanding of the intricacies of working with press, fine-tuned time management skills, and a strong agency mindset.
