About Derek Bever

I am looking to get my feet wet in the industry before pursuing a more advanced degree. Even though the education that UCSD has provided me with, culminating in the receipt of a degree with "bioinformatics"​ in the title, there is only so much that can be covered at the undergraduate level. With that in mind, there may be areas in which I am lacking the experience/expertise that you are looking for, but I am ready and willing to overcome any such deficit. During my time at UCSD, I had to pick up C++ and Python on the fly to develop solutions for problems in motif search, sequence alignment, genome assembly, clustering and many more, to as a critical part to my major's core curriculum. However, the desire to continue growing, through "life-long" learning, has not stopped after graduation day. I have risen to the challenge, on multiple occasions in my professional life, as well, to meet the demands of the projects that I have been given, by incorporating new technologies into my repertoire.
