About Derek Blume

With over twenty years of experience in creating immersive and realistic 3D content for various media outlets, I am a visual effects professional who specializes in designing cinematic lighting, materials, and effects that enhance the mood and composition of pre-rendered sets and virtual environments. My varied skillset helps me collaborate effectively and my extensive experience allows me to work fast. As a Layout Supervisor, I helped the live action Jungle Book Movie (As a CG Supervisor/Environment Artist at Magnopus, I co-created two Emmy-nominated projects for Outstanding Original Interactive Program:"Mission:ISS" and "Blade Runner 2049 Memory Lab", which involved creating a realistic and engaging simulation of the International Space Station and a VR experience based on the iconic sci-fi movie. I also shared my insights and challenges on the Art of Mission:ISS at the 2018 Game Developer's Conference. I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and exploring new ways of delivering captivating 3D content for social media and entertainment platforms.
