About Derek Boddy

I am excited to bring my two decades of technical and professional experience to technical program management and engineering functions in the commercial sector. Coming from the Defense and Aerospace Sector, I bring a diverse set of perspectives and experiences. As the Senior Technical Program Manager for Digital Engineering at BAE Systems, I manage a diverse team of over 40 employees with oversight for contractor support of Weapon System Architecting and Risk Management, Weapon System Software Integration, Configuration Management, Engineering Data, Quality Assurance, and Training and Development. Additionally, I am the Project Engineering Lead responsible for supporting the Air Force in the arduous challenge of deploying Model-based Systems Engineering for the Minuteman Weapon System. This includes re-architecting the engineering baseline from a paper-based approach to a digital, model-based environment. This is a one-of-a-kind and ground-breaking project for the Air Force; consisting of a significant amount of organizational and workforce transformation and change management. As the lead, I have the opportunity to explore and cultivate innovation, experimentation, and grow high performing teams. I also perform as the Deputy Chief Systems Engineer where I manage the Risk Management Program and support development of strategic planning and initiatives for both BAE and Government senior leaders. Prior to my taking this position, the Quality Assurance and Training and Development teams did not exist. I built them from the ground up due to identifying the need and value to the program in a business case analysis. As a result, this made my role the most cross-cutting across the organization and provided me a unique opportunity to report directly to the Vice President on areas of program performance for the business unit. I thrive in ambiguity and promote curiosity, continued learning, and knowledge sharing with my colleagues and customers. To create high performing teams, I consistently strive to develop methods to increase employee total motivation by cultivating an environment of play, purpose, and potential.
