About Derek Carson

I am an Information Services professional currently serving as a Project Lead for the Sales Capability, Sales Operations, and IS vertical leading major IT projects. Examples of my recent projects are the Trade Systems Hostess Acquisition project, Sales MDM Replacement project, and SalesForce CRM Implementation project. I have also been a Senior Business Analyst supporting the Sales, Marketing, and Growth teams at The JM Smucker Co. My responsibilities for these positions include managing project plans, creating project budgets, eliciting and documenting stakeholder requirements for system enhancements, managing cross functional technical projects, creating solution/functional design documents, supporting JMS’ Sales Operations and Finance business teams, prioritizing and triaging pressing support issues, communicating to senior leadership effectively, problem solving using SQL navigation, and leading our code promotion process alongside a team of developers for a Trade Promotion Management system, managing over $2B in transactions a year. I led process improvement initiatives which improved my team’s output by removing redundant work and challenging the “way things always have been done” mindset. I have served as the project manager and lead BA for the trade ecosystem year end (5+ complex, integrated systems), and a BA on creating a future price optimization project.
