About Derek Cirko

I am an Operations professional in industrial manufacturing with years of demonstrated results from leading site operations to implementing Lean methods and transformations. My 25+ year career enables me to navigate through an array of challenges and work collaboratively with global teams to find solutions in a variety of ways. I am a natural leader, practitioner of Lean, project manager, facilitator, mentor, and am certified in Six Sigma. My skills and experience include executing 3P's to create factory designs and cellular layouts, mixed-model Value Stream Mapping, line balancing, TPM, 5S, conducting Design of Experiments, and managing complex projects for manufacturing and office processes. I have also led initiatives to insource manufacturing to leverage open capacity with >$250k annual savings and executed a productivity improvement program with a funnel of >$6M and 3% annual savings.(I enjoy the details, what can I say.) I have led the development and execution of global training programs for Operational Excellence and Supply Chain Excellence. These comprehensive programs combine theory with application to level-set knowledge within the industry and advance continuous improvement culture in the work we do every day. Through benchmarking and industry experience, I have also led the development and execution of a global Operational Excellence Business System. The Business System is an assessment of the current state across key operational processes with the output being an actionable roadmap to be implemented to achieve industry standards of excellence. I have many interests outside of my career and I find some of them have an interesting link to my work. I am fascinated with architecture, design, art and music. There is a dichotomy that exists between these things in a way, some elements require structure, standard work and elimination of variability, while others demand stretching the limits of what is possible and working creatively outside the lines.
