About Derek Clifton

In January 2007, I enrolled in the game design program at the Guildhall at SMU. The projects I worked on, the technology I learned together with the friends I made was a time a will always look back upon and wonder where are they now and what are they doing. It's not so much a childhood memory but one I cherish and was at a very important point in my life. I was ready and eager to live the dream of becoming a world-renowned game designer. But, it became only that - a dream. The real takeaway and education were to see and reflect on my lacking and arrogant nature. I must have caused much difficulty to my classmates and instructors because I considered myself better than others and didn't know I was the least among my peers. Everyone was so patient with me back then. After the Guildhall I was facing financial hardships - landing a good paying job. I started my own game company with my friends, produced a game for no real profit for the amount of work and time we put into it. I know I'm not the strongest writer, but I have learned to write from passion, from a technical viewpoint, and in a story tense. I'm a Copywriter to strengthen my weakness and help my clients reach a greater and deeper connection through content. Video game, music, radio, TV, web pages, images are all just a means to communicate and convey the benefit of the product/service can give the target prospect. Everyone needs a well-written copy, for stories, dialoge, billboard ads, Facebook ads, Google ads, email campaigns, abandoned shopping carts, website content, business proposals, resumes, SEO optimizations, marketing strategies, projects, product descriptions, brochures, ETC. With my technical background and skillset, I can offer more to my clients than just plain good copy, but an understanding of the good practice of technology with a strategy to achieve a competitive edge over competitors. customer retention, loyalty, branding, better search, and more action-taking paying customers.
