Derek is Irish Practice Lead for BearingPoint’s Identity Management services, a provider of unique identity solutions on a national scale. He has over 20 years of experience providing program management, project and operational advice to Government agencies, NGOs and commercial operators involved in passport and visa issuance, driving permit and licensing, biometrics and identity management. He has worked on many high profile government projects within Ireland, working for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Social Protection, and the Road Safety Authority. Since 2003 Derek has successfully delivered the roll out of the Irish Polycarbonate based Passport, the upgrade of the Irish Passport to include Biometrics for the US VISA Waiver Scheme in 2006, Managed the upgrade of the personalisation infrastructure in 2011 and most recently is leading the Identity Management and Counter Fraud streams for the new Irish National Driving License Service (NDLS) launched in Q4, 2013.
