About Derek Fritz

I am a dedicated and self-motivated recent graduate pursuing a career as an Actuary. I attended Millersville University where I pursued a degree in Business Administration while working full time to support myself as well as my wife and daughter. Following completion of my degree program I began to dedicate my study time to preparation for the preliminary exams offered by the Society of Actuaries. At this time I have independently studied for and successfully completed the exams in Probability Theory and Financial Mathematics While I obtained my degree in Business Administration I successfully completed a number of courses in accounting, finance, information systems, computer programing, and statistics. I have developed advanced skills in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Access as well as programming languages including Java and SQL. I also have excellent problem solving skills and a strong background in mathematics. During my time in school I became interested in Actuarial Science. As a result I have independently studied financial mathematics and have become very familiar with a wide range of financial and investment products as well as independently pursuing my Actuarial certification through the Society of Actuaries. I am very personable and have excellent communication skills. I am highly skilled at summarizing and simplifying complex topics in an easy to understand manner.
