About Derek Gamlem

I am a bilingual administrator and manager with over 15 years of experience. I have worked for major organizations such as Rogers Communications, Manulife Financial, the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC), Laurentian Bank, and Meridian Credit Union. I’m currently the Sales Support Manager at Meridian OneCap Credit Corp. Before Meridian, I was the manager of Sales Support, Vendor Equipment Finance, at LBC Capital, a division of Laurentian Bank. Colleagues know me as a knowledge resource, who is always available to talk through a problem, and to come up with a new approach; however, I never try to impose my ideas on others. Instead, I take the time to understand the issue and the audience before suggesting ideas. I can (and often do) work well alone, but I’m at my best collaborating with others. I have a BA (Joint Hons.) in French and Spanish Studies from the University of Waterloo. I have also completed the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation via the Human Resources Professional Association's (HRPA) online Human Resources program, a highly versatile designation that has prepared me for future leadership opportunities. I am currently working towards a Project Management designation through McMaster University.
