About Derek Harris

I am a research and development executive with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. I have a record of success with innovation and implementation of new products and processes in a number of different industries. I’ve had experience with polymers, coatings, injection molding, electrochemical and lamination processes in the Nano-Materials, Ophthalmic, Electronics, Medical and Filtration Industries.I’m experienced in process and product development, design of experiments, statistical process control, negotiation of supply and technology licensing contracts. I have extensive skills in strategic planning, the building of technology and product roadmaps, the stage-gate process for both technology and product development, project management, DFSS or design for six sigma tools, team building, and leadership.My objective is to utilize the education and experience I have to create new products and processes. Discovery, innovation and then implementation is what drives me. I’ve been most successful in leading teams with diverse backgrounds and working with them to augment their own capabilities by collaboration in a group.
