About Derek Heck

As a retired Command Sergeant Major, I have had the honor to be a leader and mentor the greatest volunteers on earth, the Army National Guard Soldier. People are the top priority to me. I have always been driven to ensure that their morale and welfare were the best they could be. My priorities also included recognition for a job well done and training to be the best at your job. My team and I developed and maintained programs that advised, developed, and enhanced individuals and teams. We were also highly focused on job performance where we assisted in providing purpose, direction, and training. We maintained motivated teams by being transparent and consistent. Recognition of accomplishments, rapid problem solving and resolving issues that are important to people have always paid dividends to groups and teams in which I served. Developing and promoting programs that save time, materials and funds along with promoting a safe work environment have been successful for me throughout my career. I enjoy seeing those around me doing well and continuing to be successful.
