Having worked in the long-term care field for several years now, my appreciation for clarity and efficiency has developed much more quickly than I ever expected. There is a strong sense of satisfaction that comes from helping clients receive the payments that they deserve, especially when you realize the importance of what these checks can mean. For a family relying solely on their long-term benefits for funding, complications on the business side could lead to very stressful living situations. Not being able to pay a residential facility or home care might be more than just a financial matter. An elderly family member that isn't receiving the supervision he or she needs could be harmful to their health and well-being. Because of this, I tend to place emphasis on being not only intelligible and transparent, but also helpful. Often I find myself looking for ways to make my life and the lives of others around me easier and more fulfilling - both at home and in the workplace. From schooling to professional endeavors, mental health to relationships, or even simply exploring, critically thinking is the first step in improving the most basic of needs or wants to incredible dreams and goals. Problem solving has always been at the forefront of my thought process since I was a child and it continues to influence how I interact with the world around me. Ingenuity is not cultivated purely from response, it takes initiative and an open mind to create real change. Trying to view things from different perspectives is one of the most powerful tools we can use to realize problems that might be hiding right under our nose, and it's this balanced and objective approach that helps me excel with nearly anything I set my sights on. I believe this willingness to learn and grow is one of my biggest assets. Regularly, my peers with more training or experience will come to me for a second opinion or when they are seeking advice. This extends from a place of understanding and allows for creativity and trust to develop, overcoming obstacles that individuals may not have the tools to conquer alone. As the talented author and businessman Patrick Lencioni explained, “Remember, teamwork begins by building trust. And the only way to do that is to overcome our need for invulnerability.”
