About Derek Klatt

I am the Lead Statutory Investigator and the Director of Operations at Klatt Investigations, a private investigations firm operating out of the Greater Toronto Area. I am a lawyer called to the Ontario Bar in 2018. I act as a neutral and independent Workplace, Regulatory, and SafeSport Investigator. I combine my legal expertise with the traditional investigation methods to address employment, regulatory, and sports disputes, including harassment, discrimination, professional misconduct, breaches of policy, and a variety of other issues. My practice intersects with law enforcement investigations regularly. I assist employers and regulators by liaising and cooperating with law enforcement in the advancement of employment and regulatory based crimes, including fraud, assault, and theft. I also assist employers in managing labour disruptions and ensuring the collection of evidence for the purposes of injunctions. I take a unique and hands-on approach in providing real-time updates to the employer and it’s counsel. With a full understanding of the evidentiary requirements under the Courts of Justice Act, I am able to guide on the ground personnel in any situation with a view to collecting premium injunction evidence. In my operations role, I am responsible for day-to-day management at Klatt Investigations in addition to guiding our growth strategy.
