About Derek Kouhi
Originally a mathematics student at Western University, I also took courses to pursue a degree in business, computer science and applied mathematics until I found my home in earth sciences. Graduated from Western with a B.Sc. Honours Specialization in Geophysics in 2014 and my M.Sc. in Geophysics in 2016 specializing in inverse modelling of gravity and magnetic data and its applications to the mining industry. I then worked as a researcher at Western University on projects related to seismology, risk assessment and modelling with insurance industry applications before moving to the airborne exploration industry in 2017 where I worked as an Interpretation Geophysicist, Data Analyst and Field Crew Chief for projects all over the world. I then took a role as a Data Processing Manager where I maintained an airborne geophysical acquisition group and worked from initial business development, to acquisition, to data processing to client delivery. Currently I am in a role in Business Development for Dias Airborne working to bring first-class airborne geophysical acquisition solutions to the mineral exploration industry.
