About Derek Lord

I have a passion for Business Analysis and Technology. Even in my youth I was exceptionally good at identifying issues and creating solutions. As an adult, I have found a way to improve my workplace through development and automation work in every job. My core strengths are in communication, analysis, requirements gathering, business documentation, solution implementation, research, and team work; all developed through years of experience. Two of my major accomplishments include: Redesigning a major business process to reduce processing time on data requests by 35% which saves thousands of dollars per year in labor costs alone. This occured while I worked at the Canadian Police Information Centre. Planning, designing, creating, and implementation of a new business solution, Customer Virtual Identification. This process was new to CaseWare and has since been sold to several new clients. The process created a master customer database for clients based only on transactional data. this system would identify similar entities, and those trying to fraudulently misidentify themselves. I have a very logical mind, which allows me to problem solve and easily prioritize and organize both data and tasks. I adapt to changes quickly and can remain calm under pressure. I am very easy to get along with and can build relationships and defuse situations quickly. I have gained a reputation with all my previous employers as a reliable and extremely dedicated employee. I have graduated of Ryerson University, where I received a BCom, Business Technology Management, with honors. I have also graduated from Algonquin College, receiving a diploma in Business Administration, majoring in Financial Services. I love to learn and am always expanding my skill set. I am a certified ITIL Foundation Level with AXELOS Global Best Practice and a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) with Project Management Institute.
