About Derek Lublin

As an undergraduate in materials engineering, when I needed a prototype to test a design, I taught myself SolidWorks and obsessed over 3D printing. As an early engineer in medical device R&D, when I needed a stronger scientific foundation to develop my ideas, I entered a PhD program while continuing to work full-time. As an inventor of a novel device, when I needed to navigate the complexities of bringing a product to market, I learned project management and led the process from concept to completion. Engineers love to specialize. They're fantastic at it, but I never liked the idea of setting boundaries around my skillset. To find the best solutions, I embrace holistic problem-solving and continuous learning to understand diverse perspectives within a team. New product development is often a relay race where passing the baton requires clear communication between contributors from technical and non-technical backgrounds. By fostering a collaborative environment and encouraging open dialogue, I believe we can achieve remarkable outcomes and drive innovation.
