According to LinkedIn’s auto-generated summary I’m an: “Experienced Marketing Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the renewables and environment industry. Skilled in Management, Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Business Development and Business Strategy. Strong media and communication professional with a Master’s Degree focused in Renewable Energy Development from Heriot-Watt University.” That’s not bad going for a machine but it doesn’t tell you that I worked in ad agencies for five or so years and as a freelance copywriter after a successful career in tech sales. Nor does it tell you that I have a degree in Environmental Science and I’m a qualified journalist, or mention my background consulting with some major blue-chip clients on their online presence. Most importantly, it doesn’t tell you why I love my job: because, if I do it well, more companies, organisations and individuals choose renewable energy and make the world just a wee bit better.
