About Derek Prospero

I've had a diverse and exciting career path. I co-founded a small company in offering early web services to local businesses. During this time I began guest-speaking at college campuses, transitioning into a full-time teaching position where I wrote and delivered curriculums on design, photography, and animation. In 2003 I helped co-create The Dilly, a pre-Facebook and relatively small social network that pioneered many modern trends and whose marketing assets, The Dilly Rank Icons, remain popular badges and avatars today. In 2008 I joined Bayshore Solutions, a Tampa digital marketing agency where I spent 7 happy years honing my skills in service of a rapidly evolving mobile landscape. In 2015 I moved to NYC to work as a full-time freelance creative consultant, broadening my skillset to include video and motion graphics. In 2019 I was hired as Creative Director for Darkside Galleries, a curation of the world's largest Funko Pop toy collection, where I create and manage original photographic artworks across various social media accounts. Although this venture suffered a sad blow in the sudden passing of its owner in late 2021, I continue to voluntarily manage the accounts as time permits. In 2023, I rejoined the team at Bayshore Solutions (now Spinutech) as a remote UX designer, where I hope to contribute a variety of skills I've been fortunate to collect over the years!
