About Derek Reich

As a passionate educator and financial literacy advocate, I bring years of experience teaching 12th grade Economics and U.S. Government while designing student-centered, standards-aligned curriculum rooted in real-world application. I hold a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida State University, along with advanced certifications in Online Teaching and Instructional Design—equipping me with the tools to blend pedagogy and technology for impactful learning outcomes. At Sarasota High School, I've led hybrid instruction initiatives, developed cross-platform lesson design for both in-person and virtual learners, and earned consistent “Highly Effective” ratings. Whether guiding students through economic simulations or civic engagement projects, I prioritize engagement, critical thinking, and inclusivity in every learning environment. My instructional philosophy is shaped by a commitment to equity, data-informed practices, and authentic learning. I'm especially interested in expanding access to financial education and empowering young adults to become informed citizens and decision-makers.
