About Derek Roy

As an Employment Counsellor at CVE Inc. Career and Vocational Evaluation, I use my interpersonal and analytical skills to assist clients with various barriers and challenges to find meaningful and sustainable employment. I have a Bachelor of General Studies in Sociology and Communications from University of the Fraser Valley, which helps me understand the social and cultural aspects of career development and communication. I have over four years of experience in the human resources and employment services field, working with diverse and marginalized populations. I have previously worked as a Human Resources Coordinator at Apollo Property Management and as an Employment Consultant at YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region. In these roles, I have contributed to the recruitment, retention, and training of staff and clients, as well as the development and implementation of employment programs and initiatives. I am passionate about helping people achieve their career goals and overcome their barriers, and I value lifelong learning, diversity, and inclusion.
