About Derek Schroeder
I have worked for the Twinsburg Parks and Recreation department since 1996. I began as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor. From there, I was promoted to swim coach and assistant pool manager. Next, I became more involved with recreational and the senior center. Finally, I assumed the position of Parks and Recreation Director in January 2008. To compliment my recreational programming experience, I have a Master's in Ecology which helps me with the parks and green space part of this job. Special Events have been a huge part of my job since 2008. I am passionate about community events, especially the Rock the Park Concert Series. Events are my creative outlet that I need. Event logistic and design are two areas that I find most appealing. In January, 2021, I accepted the Community Services Director position with the City of Beachwood, Ohio!
