About Derek Scott

Derek Scott is the marketing and technical manager for AMERICAN Flow Control. After earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of New Orleans, he worked as a project manager in the construction industry, where he built treatment plants and installed large diameter pipelines. Mr. Scott joined AMERICAN in October of 1988. Since that time, he has served in various sales and sales management positions in Orlando, Boston, Pittsburgh and Pensacola. He has been in his current position since January of 2010, where he is responsible for the AMERICAN Flow Control brand, its product line management, and directs all marketing and technical / engineering functions. He represents the company on several standards committees, including AWWA, MSS, NSF and ASCE and has served as a stakeholder with government agencies on legislative rulemaking. He currently serves as the chair for the ANSI/AWWA C515 subcommittee and has served as past secretary for the ANSI/AWWA Standards Committee on Gate Valves and Swing Check Valves. Mr. Scott has published articles in The Journal AWWA, the water works industry’s flagship publication, AWWA Opflow, and Valve Magazine. He has also authored several industry papers and has served on various university based professional sales advisory boards. He and his wife Tess have one daughter. In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, working in the community and playing golf.
