About Derek Snyder
After acquiring just under 10 years of environmental compliance regulatory experience with emphasis on surface water quality, drinking water, wastewater, industrial pre-treatment, and water rights I decided to complete graduate work in Geographic Information Systems. My most recent position was GIS Specialist with the Town of Castle Rock. After about 2.5 years I decided to take a chance on transitioning to geomatics while still maintaining a foothold in GIS. Finding work in geomatics with absolutely no experience is challenging and I felt this was a great way to break into the field. So I left the traditional GIS arena and took advantage of what I considered to be a chance of a lifetime opportunity. This gamble led to a permanent position in just over 2 months for which I am extremely grateful.
