In his current role as Assistant State Director at the Mississippi SBDC Network, Derek works to improve the accessibility and visibility of essential resources for small businesses across Mississippi. His experience in strategic planning and market dynamics has been built through various roles within the SBDC, including Business Counselor and Market Research Specialist. In these positions, Derek has had the opportunity to advise on business strategies, assist in securing financing, and provide valuable market insights to a wide range of clients, helping them navigate competitive markets. Additionally, as an Instructor of Management, Derek enjoys sharing his practical knowledge in corporate strategy, communications, and leadership with students, helping them prepare for the complexities of the business world. Derek earned both his BBA and MBA from the University of Mississippi, where he was honored with induction into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society for his academic achievements. He has also been recognized professionally with awards such as the Mississippi SBDC's State Star in 2022 and inclusion in America’s SBDC 40 Under 40.
